Can you miss someone for the time you spent together and not...?

the actual person themselves? My ex girlfriend, who I actually kind of despise, was with me during some of the best times of my life. I was 21, had just bought myself a brand new motorcycle, and was touring the rocky mountains (a place that seems ingrained in my soul now) on weekends. Now I live on the other side of the country, and have an amazing girlfriend that I want to stay with forever, but I still miss Calgary and the rockies, and because my ex was part of my life during that time, I cant help thinking of her sometimes too. Is it possible to miss someone only because she was in your life at the right time and place?
