College roomie issues?

i have a huge dilemma that i need help with. i am a sopre in college. my current roommate is overbearing, loud and clingy. i want to be an independent person. but for housing next year, i don't know who to room with because she seems to think we're best friends, and i don't want to kill the friendship, but i don't know who else i can room with!! ahhh please helppp, i hate college and rooming and all this useless crap. :(((
