Straightening for nubz.?

Okay, so my brother is obsessed with this one guy's haircut. I've put the link in the added details, since the last time I put a link in my question, I couldn't ask another question for 24hours. So anyway, the second link is a picture of his hair at the moment, dried with a towel after showering, and edited with pro-paint skillz. He's wondering if he should go to the hair salon now? or let it grow (since it's summer vacation) and go to it after 2 months? He usually straightens the hair and tries to get a scene hair side bang, but always fails to do so, since he's a real nub at straightening xD. It looks like the guy in the picture used some hair gel, so he uses hair gel too when he does his hair. Only problem is, he uses hair gel before he straightens his hair, and not after, which damages your hair (right? because that's what I've told him.), but then he's like 'When I put hair gel on it, after straightening it, I get it all fck'd up when I use a comb to get a side bang) So any information on how to straighten/do a side bang like that guy in the picture, or any other information on how to do his haircut would be awesome~ Thanks in advance.
