What happens to bodies in a plane crash?

I know this sounds gross, but I am curious. If there is a violent crash are bodies vaporized? completely destroyed? Other than the obvious ,such as burned beyond recognition , does severe impact literally pulverize bodies. A recent plane crash near here with possibly 5 people on board a small plane left investigators unsure of the number of people on board.
